Fine, fresh example of these striking coloured woodblocks, with immense beautiful and well-known flowers of Japan, which display a great diversity of colour, and are the most beautiful of the summer flowering plants. Yoshinoen Garden (Seed-Growers, Nurserymen, Exporters and Importers) based in Tokyo, Japan were awarded the Gold Medal of Honour for their 'newest varieties of Iris' at the Anglo-Japanese exhibition held in London in 1910. Each plate in this catalogue depicts a different variety of iris cultivated by this nursery. Hand-coloured woodblock prints on handmade rice paper, each numbered and captioned at top, each outlined in ink. Framed in perspex frames; overall size: 49 x 36.7cm.
