superbly bound example of the first Armenian edition of the Aeneid, with fine provenance Very rare. This translation of Virgil's immortal epic poem was completed by Etvart Hiwrmiwz (Edward Hurmuzian, 1799-1876). The copy bears the following manuscript birthday dedication on the flyleaf: 'From Percy Radcliffe to his father, June 5th 1848' (i.e., J. Percival Pickford Radcliffe, 1824-1908, later 3rd Baronet). 8vo (23 x 15 cm), [2], engraved frontispiece and title, [20], 631pp., with three steel-engraved plates, very light spotting, contemporary red morocco, richly gilt, all edges gilt, slightly rubbed. Not in Nersessian.
