A biography of Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, major general in the Continental Army and chief of staff for Gen. George Washington. Steuben was born in Prussia and served in the Prussian army before being introduced to Washington, who recruited him into the American Continental Army. Steuben is credited with teaching vital military drills and tactics to the troops and with writing, Regulations for the Order and Discipline of the Troops of the United States, which was used for training until the War of 1812.
