Selected principally from the Royal Gardens at Hampton Court and the remainder from the Most Celebrated Gardens around London. Pomona Britannica stands apart from other botanical books with their dry, academic depictions of scientific specimens in its use of warm, dark aquatinted backgrounds in dramatic contrast to the vivid colours and texture of the living fruit. Pair of aquatints with stipple-engraving, printed in colours and finished by hand, in fine condition with strong fresh original colour. Framed in perspex, overall size: 59.5 x 70cm.
