Fine. Based on Goethe’s Theory of Colours, published in 1810, Richard Beadsmoore’s binding explores the interplay between Goethe’s literature and his radical concepts of vision. Turning to the doublures, however, shows Goethe’s more traditional aspect, alluding to the representaiton of ‘liebostod’ (love and death) in his poetry, and in German romanticism as a whole.
