A fine example of the spectacular botanical work by Berthe Van Nooten, from 'Fleurs, Fruits et Feuillages Choisis de l'Ile de Java'. The Otophora Alata is a tall tree of the Sapindaceae order. According to Hoola Van Nooten, its nonedible fruit, which grows in bunches, is frequently used to remove stains from linen.
