Photographs show the Tonsure ceremonies and festivites, most likely at the time that Ranjitsinhji (famous cricketer) was installed as a King. King Mansinh died in 1908, leaving behind him, two sons and a daughter – Ranjitsinhji, Naharsinhji and Surajkuvarba. Highly educated and a person with brilliant career, Ranjitsinhji had joined the Imperial Cadet Core and was awarded the title of "Knight Commander of India". Because of this prestigious title, he was popularly known as Sir Ranjitsinhji. During his rule, some very important public institutions were established. A high school, veterinary hospital, gymkhana, tower and library were built. Free education was also offered in the state to bring cultural awareness in the society. It was a golden period for the sports and culture in Baria during Sir Ranjitsinhji's rule. Seventeen platinum prints. Good tonal range and largely in good condition.
