"Intended to supplement the author's earlier history of European trade in the two Indies. An enterprising printer secured the manuscript and without consent issued simultaneous English and French editions" - Howes. Many variant editions were published anonymously in 1781, providing a complex bibliographic puzzle. Despite the London imprint, this edition was likely printed in France or the Low Countries.
