Ballads and Songs.
£160 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
A near fine copy of the first issue, without the errata slip, and the armorial bookplate of Arthur Quiller-Couch, fellow contributor to The Speaker. Q was probably the author of the first mainstream review of a book by Davidson, an enthusiastic notice of Scaramouch in Naxos, which he followed with a rave review of A Random Itinerary . Ballads and Songs was a great success, with warm notices from all, and all of its 5,000 copies sold quickly.
