Christmas Greeting from California. First edition, first printing, of this collection of poetry celebrating the author's love of Japanese culture. Hibbard (c.1835-1911) turned to poetry after moving to California in the early 20th century. Here, she dedicates this collection to Laura Lyon White (1839-1916), the suffragist and environmental conservation campaigner.Provenance: with the ownership label of Alexander Thomas Leonard (1889-1970) on the front wrapper verso. Leonard was a long-time member of the California Historical Society. His collections of books, documents, and artefacts connected to the state's history is now spread across a number of libraries.
