Title: Riverdale Kingsbridge Spuyten Duyvil New York City A Historical Epitome of the Northwest Bronx Author: William A. Tieck Publisher: Fleming Revell Description: Scarce book. A history of the Riverdale, Spuyten Duyvil and Kingsbridge neighborhoods in the northwest Bronx in New York City. Reverend Tieck of St. Stephen's Methodist Church in Marble Hill published this book with a small printing in 1968 using religious publisher Fleming H. Revell as the printer. Somewhere around 3,000 total copies were produced. Of these, 987 copies were signed and numbered by Tieck, the remainder, like this copy were unsigned and unnumbered. Apparently Tieck retained control of the copyright and printing plates as the book was later reprinted in 1989. Tieck did some serious research and produced the primary book on this affluent area of the Bronx. There are lots of photos, illustrations, drawings and includes a couple of maps at the rear of the book. Many of the photos do not appear in any other book about NYC or the Bronx. Filled with interesting history, this book is a really entertaining read, especially if you are familiar with this beautiful area of the Bronx. A nice copy of this out of print work.
