Two volume set of religious discourses by Isaac Watts (1674-1748), the "Godfather of English Hymnody."This copy belonged to Samuel Sitgreaves, a Federalist congressman and collector from Philadelphia. He was also a prominent businessman and later U.S. Commissioner to Great Britain. Much of his collection made its way to the National Cathedral Library, from which this volume was deaccessioned.
