THE BODY OF CHRIST: A SERIES OF ESSAYS ON THE SCRIPTURAL DOCTRINE OF FEDERAL REPRESENTATION. An early Kentucky imprint, the first edition in book form of arguments "Corrected, enlarged and concluded, from the EVANGELICAL RECORD AND WESTERN REVIEW." James M'Chord (1785-1820), a Presbyterian minister, was raised in Kentucky. This book, and M'Chord's slightly controversial views, resulted in his suspension from the ministry. Namely, he argues that Christ is a representative leader of the Church, and represents individuals only as members of that congregation. He was accepted into the Presbytery of West Lexington shortly after his suspension from the great Kentucky Presbytery, and continued to preach in Lexington until his death in 1820.
