Switzerland. A beautifully detailed and skillfully engraved map of the area to the north west of Lake Neuchatel, in a French speaking Canton in Switzerland. Flanking the decorative central title cartouche, are important particulars of the region. The firm of Covens and Mortier (and its successors) published thousands of maps for well over a century from 1721 to the mid-1800s. They re-published the works of most of the great 17th and early 18th century Dutch and French cartographers, including De L'Isle, Jansson, De Wit, Allard and Ottens among others. Beautiful original hand-colouring, double-page engraved map, blank on verso, fine impression. Some stains and toning.
