$1,000 · Offered by William Reese Company

THE PRESENT STATE OF THE NATION: PARTICULARLY WITH RESPECT TO ITS TRADE, FINANCES, &c. &c. ADDRESSED TO THE KING AND BOTH HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT. Second edition, after the first of the same year. William Knox was under-secretary of state for the American colonies from 1770 to 1782, had previously lived in Georgia, and was the agent for Georgia and East Florida for a brief time. In this work he gives a defense of George Grenville's ministry and discusses the role of the American colonies in the financial structure of Great Britain, defending taxation of the colonies. Although this copy lacks the half title, which contains the edition statement, the issue points are correct for the second edition, as noted by ESTC.
