A number of the essays - namely ‘Individuals’, ‘On What There Is’, ‘The Identity of Indiscernibles’, and ‘Negation’ - variously respond to the philosophy of Willard Van Orman Quine, with particular reference to Quine’s generalised version of Russell’s theory of descriptions.
