ADDRESS TO THE VOTERS OF THE 6th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA ON THE OWNERSHIP OF THE PACIFIC RAILROADS BY THE GOVERNMENT AND THE LOCATION OF A DEEP SEA HARBOR AT SAN ... A scarce speech by George Smith Patton, a candidate for the United States House of Representatives from California, and the father of famed World War II General George S. Patton. Patton opposes the power of the big railroads, and favors some government ownership or control. He also favors construction of a deep water port at San Pedro, which had been opposed by Huntington and the Southern Pacific.OCLC locates a total of seven copies, and ascribes dates of either 1887 or 1894. Patton ran for his U.S. House seat in 1894, so the latter date seems most likely for this publication. Patton had been a Los Angeles District Attorney from 1884 to 1886, and ran for United States Senate in 1916. He lost that race, as he did his 1894 bid for the House.
