The Mid-Africa Mission was the working name of the Baptist Mid-Mission, being an extensive overseas network though based in the United States. It was established in September 1920, and “based on fundamentalistic principles and opposition to the modernism perceived to exist in the Northern Baptist Convention” (Brackney). Their founders were based in Ohio, Minnesota, and New York and the first foreign operation was in French Equatorial Africa. In 1952, their name was changed to Baptist Mid-Missions. The featured missionaries here are Bertha Manuel, Fern Minzey, the Moneysmith family, and Mr and Mrs Lester Fogle. Brakney, W.H., Historical Dictionary of the Baptists (Scarecrow Press, 2009) p.69.
