This is one of many efforts to cash in on the publicity generated by Cook and Peary. Staging and shooting this charming sequence of photos was clearly a great deal of fun. The studio backdrop has the sun on the horizon with ice mountains to the right hand side. Signs advertise: “This way to the North Pole (I don’t think)”, “Visitors are requested not to get Up the Pole”, and “Discoverers are requested not to move or damage The North Pole”.
