AN ARCTIC VOYAGE TO BAFFIN'S BAY AND LANCASTER SOUND, IN SEARCH OF FRIENDS WITH SIR JOHN FRANKLIN. Narrative of the author's eight-month journey in search of his brother, who had sailed with Sir John Franklin on his final (and fateful) expedition. Goodsir, a medical doctor and lately the president of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh, sailed twice to the Arctic in search of his brother, Harry, who was assistant surgeon and naturalist to the Franklin Expedition. This work recounts his first such journey. Extracted from the author's journal, the tale includes interactions with Eskimos, an excursion to hunt polar bears, and a whale hunt, as well as a thorough description of Arctic scenery, wildlife, and landscape, with which the author was quite smitten.
