TREATY OF MUTUAL DEFENCE BETWEEN THE MOST SERENE AND MOST POTENT PRINCE CHARLES VI. EMPEROR OF GERMANY, &C. AND THE MOST SERENE AND MOST POTENT PRINCE ... The text of a treaty between the Prince George and Prince Charles VI, printed in parallel columns in Latin and English. The treaty obligates Britain and the Holy Roman Empire to a mutual defense pact against the Ottoman Empire. "That the Design and End of the Defensive Alliance be no other than mutually to defend each other, and to preserve themselves in the Possessions of the Kingdoms, Provinces and Rights, in the Condition they now are...." This alliance, when joined by Austria and the Netherlands, became the Quadruple Alliance. Also contains two other treaties: CONVENTION BETWEEN...PRINCE GEORGE,...AND...LEWIS XV...FOR PROPOSING...PEACE; and CONVENTION BETWEEN...PRINCE GEORGE,...AND...LEWIS XV...FOR SETTLING SEPARATE AND SECRET ARTICLES BELONGING TO THE FOREGOING ULTIMATE CONDITIONS OF PEACE.
