EXTRACTS FROM THE MINUTES OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY, AT AN OCCASIONAL MEETING HELD AT NEW-YORK, DECEMBER 28th, 1809. Extracts from a U.S. Military Philosophical Society meeting in 1806. Founded at West Point in 1802, in the same year of the Military Academy's establishment, the Society reflected a growing American nationalism following the Revolution and sought to supplement the education of America's new Corps of Engineers. The present pamphlet reprints an address delivered by the Society's President in which he warns, "In peace prepare for war." Also includes a list of officers and members for the year 1810.
