The Arts of Logick and Rhetorick, Second edition in English of Manière de bien penser (first published in French 1687), following the rare English translation of 1705 (located by ESTC in only two copies); here translated and loosely adapted by John Oldmixon.Manière de bien penser was the key philosophical and critical work of the French Jesuit priest Dominique Bouhours (1628-1702), outlining the principles of thought and logic with regard to literature. Oldmixon's adaptation considers this with reference to English literature; the translator was a historian and poet himself.
