[Bookseller's Catalogue]: [Hilliard, Gray, and Co.]:
$450 · Offered by William Reese Company
A SELECT CATALOGUE OF BOOKS CHIEFLY PUBLISHED OR IMPORTED BY HILLIARD, GRAY, AND Co. An early 19th-century bookseller's catalogue, featuring 496 numbered titles, each organized by size and most likely imported by the booksellers. A number of expensive and some rare titles are included. A wide variety of subjects are included, but the preponderance are Classics, making the Aldine device on the titlepage apropos. Following the running list of titles are detailed advertisements of Hilliard, Gray, and Company's own publications followed by physical descriptions and some including reviews. Both courses for Greek and Latin studies are listed with a brief list of "Elementary Works in the Modern Languages." An early owner was apparently interested in three books, including "Schleuner's Lexicon" ($12.00), "Schmidt's Greek Concordance," and "Faccolat + Fondellieu Lat Dictionary ($25.00).
