THE CONNECTICUT ALMANACK, FOR THE YEAR OF OUR LORD CHRIST 1772...CALCULATED FOR THE MERIDIAN OF NEW LONDON, IN CONNECTICUT, LAT. 41 DEG. 25 MIN. NORTH; AND 4 H 45 M. WEST FROM THE ROYAL OBSERVATORY ... A scarce late colonial Connecticut almanac by Edmund Freebetter, which has also been attributed to Clark Elliott and to Nathan Daboll. Almanacs attributed on the titlepage to Freebetter were published in New London between 1772 and 1792, but NAIP only records this 1772 almanac as actually compiled by Freebetter. In addition to the calendar year and standard meteorological and astronomical predictions, this almanac includes a list of distances from New London to principal towns on the continent, a list of remarkable eras and events, and one page devoted to medicinal cures "extracted from authors, showing a natural and safe method of curing diseases" such as ague, bite of a mad dog, cough, weak digestion, gangrene, and melancholy.
