Presentation inscription in ink to the titlepage: “His Grace the Duke of Manchester with the author’s compliments.” Kimbolton Castle was the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Manchester, a title held in 1878 by George Montagu, the 8th Duke. Francis Labilliere was an Anglo-Australian historian, and this important work revisits documents pertaining to the colony’s early history, and the establishment of Victoria.
