[Views of Peking and surroundings].
£2,500 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
A beautifully evocative group of snapshots showing street life in Peking. Caravans of camels in front of Qianmen Gate, funeral processions, pailou gates, temples, street urchins and street kitchens, Buddhist monks, wooden carts, hairdressers, tours to the Great Wall, as well as the Ming tombs. Unfortunately we do not know the identity of the photographer; clearly a foreigner, possibly a lady due to the fact that most of her companions are female.
