19th Century model of an Oriental Steam Yacht.
£27,500 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
Triggs Maritime Architects were reknowned for their models of the most celebrated private seacraft of the era, most famously the Royal yachts such as the Victoria and Albert. This particular model is notable both for its significantly larger size and also its unique design, it is reasonable to surmise that this was produced to promote the building of such a craft, but we can find no record of the steam yacht having been commissioned. Remarkably detailed, the deck is adorned with an gilded Indian or possibly Ottoman pavilion, the rest of the superstructure being decorated in a similar highly ornate style and features a working compass affixed to the viewing platform.
