UNCAS AND MIANTONOMOH; A HISTORICAL DISCOURSE.... Stone, a noted biographer of Indian chiefs, delivered the bulk of this discourse in Norwich, Connecticut on July 4, 1842 on the occasion of the dedication of a monument to Uncas. Uncas was the first chief of the Mohegans encountered by British settlers in Connecticut. An appendix contains a general history of the Indians of New England, including the Pequots. Stone also composed biographies of Joseph Brant and Red Jacket.
