The treaties of peace and commerce between the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of Spain recognized the right of Spain to all of its American possessions and gave the Emperor's subjects the right to use Spanish ports, another crack in Spain's New World monopoly. The first and second treaties recognize Philip V as the legitimate King of Spain and the Indies, as per the prior treaties of Utrecht. They also provide full liberty to the ships of the Austrian Netherlands, with certain caveats to protect the commerce of the West Indies. The third treaty present here, between France, England, and Prussia, is basically a treaty of mutual defense. It also gives major trading concessions to the British, further strengthening their overseas commerce and laying the foundation for the rapid expansion of the American colonies.
