A FRENCH VOLUNTEER OF THE WAR OF INDEPENDENCE.... One of twenty copies printed on Japan vellum. The first English edition, after the French original of 1827, translated and edited by Robert B. Douglas. More, also known as the Chevalier de Pontgibaud, fought on the side of the American army during the Revolution as an aide-de-camp to Lafayette. His memoirs include accounts of major events in the war, as well as his post-Revolutionary travels in Europe, and the French Revolution.
