A charming image of two divers digging for gold beneath a jetty on the Ancobra River. The Gold Coast generally refers to the west coast of Africa from Cape Three Points to the Volta River. Richard Burton reported that five companies and up to seventy concessions were working the Ancobra River in 1882.
