The Corpse Came C.O.D. First edition, first printing. Signed by Starr on the front flyleaf and additionally inscribed by him on the front free endpaper: "To Bonita Porter - the first of my new fan club. Best wishes, Jimmy Starr. March 19 1980." Starr was an American screenwriter and columnist active in Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. The present novel was the basis for the 1947 Columbia Pictures film (of the same title) starring George Brent and Joan Blondell. With a DVD of the film and a newspaper clipping from the Times Union, in which Damon Runyon briefly discusses Starr's work, loosely inserted.
