Fogg, Jeremiah:

$550 · Offered by William Reese Company

JOURNAL OF MAJOR JEREMIAH FOGG. DURING THE EXPEDITION OF GEN. SULLIVAN IN 1779, AGAINST THE WESTERN INDIANS. From an edition limited to 150 copies. An account of a 1779 frontier expedition under General Sullivan against the Seneca and British in which Fogg took part, printed on the one hundredth anniversary of the campaign. The expedition razed dozens of Six Nations villages and destroyed enormous amounts of food and grain while suffering minimal casualties. On the other hand, it was unable to capture any prisoners and served more to stoke previously neutral communities into action against the Continental Army than to deter future violence. A scarce Howes item.
