Eyre, John:

$400 · Offered by William Reese Company

THE CHRISTIAN SPECTATOR: BEING A JOURNEY FROM ENGLAND TO OHIO, TWO YEARS IN THAT STATE, TRAVELS IN AMERICA, &c. Eyre left England with his family in June 1832, bound for America. After an unpleasant crossing, they landed at New York to find news of the cholera epidemic, and quickly set out for Albany via the Hudson River, then on to Ohio. Part II is comprised of an account of their two-year stay in Ohio, including an account of the adventures of a fellow emigrant whom the author calls "Latimer." Howes describes the same imprint, but in 84pp. and 16mo. Thomson lists the same collation as the present copy and notes it as the true first edition.
