REMINISCENCES, MEMOIRS AND LECTURES. Monsignor Ravoux went from France to Minnesota as a missionary to the Sioux in 1840. He served with that tribe until 1876, his operations covering the vast area from Dubuque to Fort Pierre. His reminiscences include interesting descriptions of overland journeys in the prairies (e.g. from Mendota to Dubuque, to Fort Pierre, etc.).
