[Mexican Mining]:
$400 · Offered by William Reese Company
[REPORT AND BY-LAWS OF THE LA CANDELARIA MINING COMPANY]. Prints documents of incorporation, by-laws and engineer's report of La Candelaria Mine near San Dimas, Mexico (in the state of Durango). Includes much material regarding the previous owner of the mine, Don Zambrano, and the riches he extracted from his silver mining operation. After Zambrano's death in 1810, the mine lay fallow for several decades. This incarnation of the mine was revived by Richard Chenery and Mark Brumagim, pioneering forty-niners. Shortly before this mining venture, Chenery was appointed Navy Agent for the Port of San Francisco by Abraham Lincoln; Chenery Street in San Francisco is named in his honor.
