EDICT DU ROY, QUI DECLARE LE COMMERCE DE MER NE POINT DEROGER A LA NOBLESSE. DU MOIS D'AOUST 1669.... A variant issue, with a slightly different title, of this important edict, which allows members of the nobility to trade by sea without foregoing any of their privileges. Previously, their activities had been circumscribed by ordinances preventing their entering commerce. Apparently a catalyst for this edict was the formation of the Compagnie des Indes in 1664, which is specifically mentioned in the text. A note on the last page states that this copy was collated against the King's Ministry copy. OCLC locates only one copy, at the University of Oxford. Rare.
