Fitzgerald, James Edward:
$500 · Offered by William Reese Company
AN EXAMINATION OF THE CHARTER AND PROCEEDINGS OF THE HUDSON'S BAY COMPANY, WITH REFERENCE TO THE GRANT OF VANCOUVER'S ISLAND. Fitzgerald's book "argues against the policy of granting the company extensive tracts of lands. The dedicatory letter is addressed to Gladstone" - Soliday. The map shows Canada, Alaska, and the northern half of the United States. Interestingly, the map portrays Britain's most aggressive claims against the northern border of Maine, despite the boundary being finalized in its modern location by the Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842. An important fur trade item.
