[Jefferson, Thomas]:

$1,350 · Offered by William Reese Company

AN ACCOUNT OF LOUISIANA, BEING AN ABSTRACT OF DOCUMENTS, IN THE OFFICES OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF STATE, AND OF THE TREASURY. One of the most important documents of the post-Louisiana Purchase period. Based on material assembled by Thomas Jefferson, this publication provided basic knowledge of Louisiana to a country hungry to hear about it. The present copy matches the description of Wagner-Camp 2b:9, with no imprint given except "Duane, printer" on the titlepage. This edition is not listed in Sabin or Howes. Howes erroneously lists an edition published in 1800.
