Versuchbuch Galaxien. Rot No. 25. First edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author on the title page "To prof. Roman Jakobson, with all my respect and best regards, Haroldo de Campos, Sao Paulo Brazil 2.10.'66". A fantastic association copy linking one of the greatest concrete poets of the twentieth century with one of its greatest linguists. De Campos used the theories of Jakobson to inform his theories on concrete poetry and his own work, especially in his critical work on Chinese ideograms. Jakobson was a long tmie admirer of the work of de Campos and praised his "supreme flairfor the innermost ties between sound and meaning, a flair which underlies and sustains... [his] most daring poetic experiments and thrilling discoveries... and which inspires his extraordinary transpositions of seemingly untranslatable poems from quite divergent languages" (Jakobson, Martin Codax's Poetic Texture in Selected Writings, vol. 6, part I).
