MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT...TRANSMITTING A REPRESENTATION OF THE COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF WASHINGTON, RELATIVE TO THE AFFAIRS OF THE CITY. ACCOMPANIED WITH SUNDRY DOCUMENTS, MARKED FROM A TO H, ... A scarce early 19th-century government document concerned with the activities of the commissioners of Washington, D.C., particularly regarding land sales and purchases by the commissioners. The pamphlet includes eight documents and a folding table, the latter entitled "A List of Balances which appear to be due to the Commissioners of the City of Washington, on 1st January, 1801, exclusive of interest." The charge of the committee reviewing the documents was to "enquire into the expenditure of money made by the Commissioners of the City of Washington, the disposition of public property made by them, and generally into all the transactions of the Commissioners."
