Face to Face. First edition of the author's first book, notably uncommon in such nice condition. Face to Face was released a year after the introduction of apartheid in South Africa. A fierce opponent of the policy, Gordimer spent the ensuing decades campaigning against the system and documenting it in her fiction to great international acclaim, eventually winning her the 1991 Nobel Prize in Literature.
