Bahrain: den gamle verdens centrum ("Bahrain: The Centre of the Old World"). First edition of this detailed work, outlining the findings of seven Danish archaeological expeditions to Bahrain 1953-59. Among the important digs discussed are the ancient Dilmun civilization on Bahrain's northern coast, the ocean floor of the Arabian Gulf, and around Abu Dhabi. The preface is by Peter Vilhelm Glob (1911-1985), a prominent Danish archaeologist who led the seven expeditions to Bahrain. In the 1950s, he discovered and excavated the ruins of Dilmun, and in 1954, he and his team uncovered the Barbar Temple, which is considered to be part of the Dilmun culture. The author, also a Danish archaeologist, participated in the 1959 winter expedition.
