Works. The Frontenac Edition, the definitive collected edition of Parkman's works, incorporating all of the author's final revisions. Parkman's great epics of the settlement and development of North America - partly based on his own experiences on the Oregon Trail and with Native American tribes - were highly romanticized, yet also scholarly, and proved a major influence on American historiography and on popular perceptions of the past. The Frontenac edition was first published in 1899, here being an early printing.
