Historical Sketch of Logic, from the earliest times to the present day. First edition, dedication copy, inscribed by the author on the title page: "With the author's kind regards to his excellency M. van de Weyer".Sylvain Van de Weyer (1802-1874) was in 1851 the Belgian ambassador to the United Kingdom, and, as a noted bibliophile, vice-president of the London Library. Robert Blakey (1795-1878) was professor of logic and metaphysics at Queen's College, Belfast, but in the 1840s he had lived in Belgium and received a gold medal from Leopold I, the monarch who nominated Van de Weyer as ambassador. Blakey's black ink inscription is on the title page.
