ETT AR I STILLA HAFVET. RESEMINNEN FRAN PATAGONIEN, CHILI, PERU, CALIFORNIEN, BRITISKA COLUMBIA OCH OCEANIEN. This Swedish account of a voyage up the Pacific coast of America and especially to the Hawaiian Islands is not in Hill, as it is a little late, taking place in 1867-68. There is a long account of a visit to Hawaii, and many of the handsome plates illustrate the island and the royal family. "A little-known account of a Pacific voyage by a young Swedish lieutenant on board two British naval ships, Zealous and the Alert. In ten chapters the author narrates his voyage on the Zealous around Cape Horn, up the coast of South America, to San Francisco. From San Francisco, Ekelof continued to Vancouver. At both ports he had shore leave and investigated the surrounding area....The attractive lithograph plates include portraits of Kings Kamehameha IV and V, Dowager Queen Emma, a view of Waikiki showing Diamond Head through a grove of palm trees, and a portrait of a young Hawaiian woman. The views include an interesting depiction of Vancouver 'Esquimalt' and five plates of Tahitian scenes and natives" - Forbes. Not in Lowther or Cowan, despite the Canada and California content.
