SCENES OF EARLIER DAYS IN CROSSING THE PLAINS TO OREGON AND EXPERIENCES OF WESTERN LIFE. Crawford left Illinois for Oregon in 1851, crossing the plains with a small party of travellers. In 1858 he moved to California, settling in the Sonoma Valley. Included here is his account of the two years he spent in the Powder River Mines.
