First edition, first impression, with a loosely inserted manuscript presentation letter from Karl Lagerfeld (1933-2019) to his goddaughter Virginia, the wife of the novelist Paul Gallico.Lagerfeld's undated letter reads: "Dear Virginia, Thank you for the nice letter. Your typing is OK. Easy to read. I hope you will like this book. It's the same kind we like (in a way). Hope to see you in Jarle[?] Centre during the end of the year. I did a set and costumes for the ballets. Let's wait to see how that will work. Je vous embrane after heureusement. Love Karl". The letter is headed with an engraving of the Grand Champ at Penhoët, Lagerfeld's country home.Lagerfeld's interest in spirituality and the occult was often cited as an influence on his fashion.
