First and limited edition, number 440 of 550 copies only, presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper "For Montague Gluckstein with the author's kind regards Christmas 1947", and additionally signed by the author on the title page.The recipient was Isidore Montague Gluckstein (1890-1975), the managing director of the food and hotel conglomerate J. Lyons and Co. Historian's Holiday collects essays on various historical and personal subjects by Bryant, a leading popular patriotic historian. A trade edition was published by Collins in 1951.
